Webcasts / Healthed Webcast – 3rd March 2026
Healthed webcasts are a valuable educational platform, allowing viewers to gain up-to-date clinical knowledge through an easy, time-efficient format. Our free online seminars fill a huge unmet need amongst GPs outside of the major cities for quality, accessible education. Each webcast features four lectures and runs for two hours. While the majority of viewers are GPs, our webcasts are relevant for healthcare professionals including pharmacists and nurses.

Challenging behaviours in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder such as aggression, absconding or self-injury will often see parents seeking help from their GP. In this session, developmental paediatrician, Associate Professor Daryl Efron will outline a practical approach to the assessment of these behaviours, helping clinicians identify and hopefully address some of the potential drivers of these distressing reactions. Professor Efron will also clarify the GP's role in helping manage and support these children and their families, including appropriate referrals and medications, and he will offer clear strategies to improve functioning, participation, and family wellbeing.

While not life-threatening, allergic rhinitis can make a child's life miserable and have a significant effect on their schooling, sport and socialising. In this presentation, paediatric allergist Dr Sam Mehr discusses the latest recommendations in terms of diagnosis, assessment and management of this condition. In addition, he will outline the role of immunotherapy, both sublingual and subcutaneous for allergic rhinitis including when it is appropriate to prescribe, the differences between the two forms and the risks and expected benefits associated with this therapy.

Unlike menopause, premature ovarian insufficiency is not physiological, it is a disease with significant consequences on affected women's future health and well-being. So says gynaecologist Professor Rod Baber who, in this talk, discusses new guidelines related to POI and details the most relevant recommendations that will affect clinical practice and assist in better recognition, understanding, diagnosis and management of this challenging and often devastating condition.

Over one in five Australian adults are regularly consuming alcohol at a quantity that is hazardous to their health. But how can these people be identified in the primary care setting? How can this issue be raised? And, most importantly, how can clinicians help these people significantly change their drinking behaviour? In this very practical talk, addiction psychiatrist, Dr Richard Bradlow addresses all these questions and more, upskilling health practitioners on their ability to recognise, assess and provide relevant and effective intervention to patients whose drinking is threatening their health.
